Today’s dining room decor is much less formal, which is great because it means lots of color is allowed! While dining rooms of the past often had wooden furniture, traditional accents, and few colors vibrant, times have changed a lot.

One of our favorite colors to use in the dining room is blue. There are so many directions you can take this magical color. Light blue, turquoise, cornflower blue, and navy blue, just to name a few, all evoke so many different feelings. Whether your style is coastal charm or you can’t resist anything glamorous, there’s no reason you can’t have fun working a little blue into your space.

01 – Bright, light blue that resembles an Easter egg

Blogger Erika Conner of Olive and June Home created a geometric accent wall in her dining room, which she then painted a beautiful robin’s blue. Her wood furniture, which she also used when the space was painted yellow, looks beautiful against the soft hue. The pattern on the wall also adds a major modern element to the space and really draws attention to that section of the room.

02 – A Brilliant Mix

There’s no need to buy a set of matching chairs—pairing a few existing sets can really create a stylish setup. Decor and the Dog’s Michelle Scheibe shows us that bright yellow chairs can pair beautifully with a bold blue backdrop. She designed this space to reflect a rustic aesthetic, but the blue walls keep the room ultra-modern.

A blue-gray color shines in blogger Erin Spain’s dining room, which is made even more beautiful by the addition of a gallery wall. There’s no need to fill an entire open space with photos—instead, a well-curated collection of six or seven pieces is all you need for a show-stopping design moment.

Stylist, decorator and blogger Katherine Medlin really gave her dining room a major makeover, painting it a happy shade of blue. and adding crown molding, which adds a sophisticated touch.
